A little bit of Robots! history:

Let's look at a little bit of Robot's history.
The Robots began as the Sunday night band at The Wharf in Hallowell, Maine. Angela (you'll meet her a little later) , became the only member of the former Sunday night band who was still into doing the gig,she asked Rob to front the band and Rock'em Sock'em Robots! was born.
After a while, we had people calling ahead from places like Portland and Brunswick, to make sure we were going to be playing.
Wow it's starting to sound like we'd hit it big. Well all good things come to an end eventually and just when we thought we were on our way to fame and fortune.........
Well let's see what happened first? Oh yeah we lost our Sunday gig. How did we do that you may ask. It's the same question we kept asking ourselves. The owner of the bar in question decided it was time for something different so, he basically gave the gig back to the same band (sans Angela) who had the gig before us and who had opted out of the gig for more $$$ elsewhere. Oh well it's a tough bidness. We all know that.
Luckily, there are lots of other places to play and we began the task of getting ourselves into some of these venues. We played in Waldeboro (The Bog), Sanford (Spectators), Millinocket (3 Rivers Rafting) The Forks (3 Rivers and the Guide Olympics) as well as the occasional, last minute Wharf Wednesday and things started goin' pretty good.
And then, the band started to get smaller. Honey I shrunk the band!!! The Drummer had found a more lucrative gig. The bad news: no drummer, good news: we DID have gigs. We did what we had to in getting coverage for gigs booked and hoped to find a more permanent fix and then....................no bass player. ( You can't blame a jazz guy for wanting to do jazz gigs.). Not again, oh well once again we played the rhythm section du jour game. Ended up with some great combos but, we still had no actual band. Enter Mr. Glidden. "It was so cool, I would call him and say hey Jeff, we've got a gig in (enter town name here) and he would say yeah cool I'll be there." Rob reminisces." And I started thinking wow I mighta' found the missing Robot."
Not long after this, The Flying Newt had given up his gig as stunt-bassist/fire eater with "The West Nile Virus Electric String Quartet and Travelling Circus". He was happy to be informed that the gig required no insurance disclaimer forms nor vaccinations administered with large bore, rusty needles and seemed quite happy to just play the bass. And alas, Rock'em Sock'em Robots! was a band again!

Rock'em Sock'em Robots! Gigs 2007
This Just In !!!
The Winter Gigs are beginning to come together.

-Saturday December 15th-The Rack-Carrabassett Valley, ME
This place is a blast!!! Come for the weekend and get your ski on!!
-Friday January 4th 2008-Spectators-Sanford, Me -it's been a while since the Robots have played here. Should be a good time.

The Kennebec Wharf-Hallowell, ME Tuesday,September 4th and Wednesday October 3rd
Come see the Robots in their home town bar. Not to be missed!!!!

Yes we have a few gigs on the books for the Summer '07 Season.
Thursday June 21st - Private Function (Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce)-Kennebec Arsenal Augusta,ME
The gig went well. The weather cooperated and the band sounded good. Heck the Governor was even there and I think I saw him tap his foot. Although his bodyguard may have tapped his foot on the Gov's behalf.

Saturday June 23rd- Three Rivers Rafting Millinockett, ME -Probably our all time favorite place to play. Come for the weekend and do some rafting or skydiving!!! A fun time was had by all. Unfortunately, that included the mosquitos.
Jason Elvin did a great job on bass. Look for Jason on future Robots gigs. Oh yeah almost forgot. Jon Truman is back in the drumseat. This kid has really become a great drummer. And yes ladies, I believe he IS single.

Saturday August 18th-Three Rivers Rafting Millinockett,ME- Should be extra fun, Rob's old pal Greg Lindholm will be handling the bottom end of things. Mr. Lindholm is in my opinion one of the great bass talents. Not to be missed!!

THIS JUST IN..........08/19/07>GUIDE OLYMPICS-The Forks ,Maine
We did this one last year and even though it rained for the whole, entire gig, a good time was had by all. Jeff Glidden and Flying Newt will be jetting in (at the last minute) for this one!!!
it's not actually a public event but if you can find it and blend in with the rafting crowd, check it out. special thanks to our old pal Joe Christopher for hooking us up with the gig (once again).

This is it so far but keep checking back for more dates.
AND IF YOU JUST CAN'T WAIT FOR YOUR ROBOTS FIX:
The Robots are now booking for the '07-'08 Winter season.
Just a note for all you pub and club owners in the mountains; ski folks love Rock'em Sock'em Robots! and we love playing for the winter time sports folks as well.

If you changed your mind, good for you. read about the mysterious, master of all things bassy, known to chant the chord changes to HonkyTonk Woman, in his sleep, in the style of the ancient Egyptian pit-fart minstrals. These ancient performers would perform complex orchestrations, using only their sweaty armpits as instruments, coaxing sounds akin to jungle beasts and the sex acts of dung beetles. Jinxed a now defunct local, jam band. Rob played on a couple of songs on this one. Very fun time.

Rob Robertson-Vocals, Guitar, Slide Guitar.
Rob has been a professional musician for almost 25 years. As well as being the singer/guitarist for the Rock'em Sock'em Robots!, he is also an accomplished drummer and bassist. As a drummer he has toured extensively throughout Maine and greater New England, as well as a good portion of the remaining United States.
While living in New Mexico in 1999-2001, Rob was fortunate in getting to play bass in some of Santa Fe's most popular reggae bands. He brings his vast knowledge of the music of Jamaica to put the reggae into the reggae/rock of Rock'em Sock'em Robots!

Rob is the founder and head-songwriter for Rock'em Sock'em Robots.
He likes to think of the bands original material as somewhat educational or at least thought provoking. " A lot of people will probably say quit your whining and get a job." Rob quips ." But I say this is my job and there's a lot in this world that should be whined about right now . We need more songwriters to step up to the plate and give voice to the questions and fears of their fellow man."
" Revolution is a strong word but, it's a screwed up time in history right now and something's gotta' give." The Rock'em Sock'em Robots are starting that revolution with music.
